From - Wed Sep 26 13:48:20 2001 Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 22:53:39 GMT Subject: CFP: Young VR (Korea) Preliminary Call for Participation Young Investigator's Forum in Virtual Reality (YoungVR, 2001) December 18-20, 2001 KAIST, Daejon, Korea vrrc.kaist.ac.kr/yvr2001 Call for Participation The Virtual Reality Research Center (VRRC) in Korea (http://vrrc.kaist.ac.kr/) invites advanced graduate students (or any individual with similar credentials) around the world to participate in a forum to discuss the future of virtual reality. VRRC, established within KAIST, is one of the highly prestegious government supported centers in Korea that specializes in the VR research. This year's forum will mark its first occurrence, and will also be first of its kind, specifically inviting only advanced graduate students for free form discussion on the future directions of virtual reality and related technologies. The forum hopes to provide an execellent opportunity for the young researchers of VR around the world to present, discuss, and cultivate new ideas. An extended abstract of 2000 words are solicited on all aspects of virtual reality, in particular on the future visions of VR and related technologies. The main contributor of the submission must be a graduate student, preferably who has finished one's research proposal toward one's PhD degree. The nature of the forum is designed to be small-scale, free form, higly interactive, and intensive, thus we will only accept around 10 submissions. All accepted participants will be provided with all or partial expenses for travel and lodging (roundtrip plane tickets to Korea, and room/meal). The first two days will be consisted of presentations and discussion rounds and during the final day, a social event is planned as an opportunity for the participants to get to know one another more.
