Modeling of scene and object geometry, photometry, and statistical properties are essential in all three areas, and many researchers today believe that we will ultimately have one unified field. This workshop is the sixth in a series of annual meetings organized by the DFG Graduate College "3-D Image Analysis and Synthesis" and the DFG Graduate Research Center SFB 603 "Model-based Analysis and Visualization of Complex Scenes and Sensor Data" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. After three meetings in Erlangen, one in Alpbach, Austria, and the previous one at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Informatik in Saarbruecken, the 2001 workshop will take place in Stuttgart. It is organized by the VIS-group of the Computer Science Department and will be supported by the DFG Graduate Research Center SFB 382 "Computational Physics", by the Informatik Forum Stuttgart INFOS, and the Frauenhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, which will host the meeting at its facilities. The program will consist of invited talks by internationally renowned speakers, as well as contributed paper and poster presentations. Topics: ------- - 3-D imaging - Object localization and recognition - Volume data processing and visualization - Multi-sensor fusion and 3-D registration - 3-D structure from motion and stereo - Geometry-based and image-based rendering - Geometric modeling - Scene modeling and integration - Multi-view image processing and coding - Applications (medicine, robotics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing, automated inspection, virtual reality, communication, etc.) Paper Submission: ----------------- Prospective attendees are invited to submit a paper up to 8 pages in final form. All submissions will be reviewed. Accepted papers will appear in the workshop digest as submitted. Authors should obtain the author's kit (including LaTeX style-file) from http://wwwvis.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/vmv01 The author's kit provides complete information concerning the submission process. It is the intention of the Committee to conduct all communication with authors electronically. Questions should be directed to mailto:vmv01@informatik.uni-stuttgart.de. Authors' Schedule: ------------------ Well ahead of deadline: Obtain author's kit and LaTeX style-file May 31, 2001: Paper submission July 15, 2001: Notification of acceptance August 31, 2001: Registration deadline The General Chair can be reached at: ------------------------------------ Prof. Dr. Thomas Ertl Institut fuer Informatik der Universitaet Stuttgart Abt.
