It is the third symposium in a series of workshops bringing together mathematicians and experts from computer graphics. For more information see: http://www.math.tu-berlin.de/vismath/ The themes of the workshop include: o visualization in differential geometry and partial differential equations o algorithmic representation of mathematical structures o computational aspects of topology o discrete geometry of meshes o compression of large and time-dependent geometric models o virtual laboratories for mathematics and applications o online visualization and computational web services. Interested contributors are asked to submit a full paper by March 10, 2002 for review. Based on the decision of the program committee papers are accepted for presentation at the workshop. Articles by keynote lecturers, invited speakers and contributors will be published by Springer Verlag in the book series "Mathematics and Visualization". For preparation of papers we ask to use the LaTeX templates for multi-authored books available from: http://www.springer.de/math/authors/b-tex.html For review papers should be submitted online using the paper submission form at the workshop website. Abstracts of all talks in electronic form will be available at the workshop, and the participants will receive an abstract volume. Date and Location The workshop will take place at the appealing Harnack-Haus in Berlin Dahlem. The Harnack-Haus belongs to the German Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. With our workshop we stay in the house's long tradition as an international meeting place for scientists. Location: Harnack-Haus in Berlin-Dahlem Url: http://www.harnackhaus-berlin.mpg.de/ Date: May 22 -- 25, 2002 Organization The workshop is organized by the Sonderforschungsbereich "Differential Geometry and Quantum Physics" (Sfb 288) at the Technische Universitat in Berlin and the Department of "Scientific Visualization" at the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB).
