CONFERENCE CHAIR Professor Juan J. Villanueva Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain KEYNOTE Professor Nadia Magnenat-Thalman University of Geneva, Switzerland LOCATION VIIP 2003 will take place in Benalmádena Costa, Málaga, in the heart of Spain's Mediterranean coast. The Costa del Sol is a 150-kilometer stretch of beaches and coves warmed by the Andalusian sun and tempered by the warm Mediterranean breeze. The coast's weather, with an average of 325 sun-filled days per year, is the best in Europe and makes the enjoyment of sports and outdoor activities a way of life. The conference venue is the Torrequebrada hotel, situated on the beach just 12 km from Málaga's International Airport. The history of the region dates back at least 20,000 years, and each civilization - Phoenician, Iberian, Roman, Muslim, and Christian - has left visible traces that continue to enrich contemporary culture. The white-washed mountain village of Mijas and the superb historical city of Granada are nearby. This area of Spain is also famous for its charming streets, wine, tapas, cathedrals, colour, music, monuments, and gardens. SCOPE The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to the following: Rendering Illumination Models Volume Rendering Rendering Algorithms and Systems Modelling CAD/CAE (Computer Aided Design & Engineering) Modelling of Natural Phenomena 3D Object Extraction Surface Reconstruction Geometric Algorithms Computational Geometry Animation Motion Control and Kinematics Dynamic Behaviour of Moving Components Traffic Analysis and Simulation Character Animation Facial Animation Human Figure Animation Image Processing and Analysis Image Acquisition Image Manipulation and Compression Image Synthesis Pattern Analysis and Recognition Medical Imaging Document Analysis Computer VIsion Machine Vision Object Recognition Active Vision Cognitive Vision Tracking Face and Gesture Recognition Biometrics Visualization and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) Scientific and Mathematical Visualization Data Treatment and Visualization Visual Information Systems Human-Computer Interaction Virtual Reality Holographic Imaging Visualization and Manipulation of Virtual Objects Visualization Software Intelligent Interfaces Augmented Reality Intelligent Ambience Applications in all fields including: Medicine Geosciences Astronomy Ocean Engineering Communications Manufacturing Environmental Sciences INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM COMMITTEE C.A.
