-------------------------------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS The 1st International Workshop on Super Visualization (IWSV08) In conjunction with the 22nd ACM International Conference on Supercomputing June 7, 2008 Island of Kos - Aegean Sea - Greece http://itolab.is.ocha.ac.jp/IWSV2008/ Supercomputing has been the major drive of the field of visualization. Visualization enables scientists to make sense of the vast amount of data generated by their massively parallel simulations. The recent advancement of GPU, Cell processors, and multi-core technologies suggests new approaches to interactive graphics and visualization, leading to another wave of active research and development in visual supercomputing. The first International Workshop on Super Visualization (IWSV08) aims at fostering exchange between visualization, graphics and HPC researchers to accelerate the development of visualization technologies for meeting the forthcoming challenges. Scope: IWSV focuses on topics including, but are not limited to: + Large-scale simulation and visualization + Real-time and/or interactive visualization + Huge scale information visualization + Innovative volume visualization + High resolution visualization + Super photo-realistic rendering + Grid based visualization + Massively parallel volume visualization + GPU based visualization + Visual computing using cell processors + Cluster based graphics and visualization + Graphics and visualization using heterogeneous system of GPUs, cells, and multi-core CPUs. PAPER SUBMISSION: We solicit submissions of papers presenting advanced prototypes, systems, algorithms, tools and environments for \"Super Visualization\". General survey papers indicating future directions of \"Super Visualization\" are also interested. Each paper is limited to 8 pages in ACM format. Publications: All accepted papers will be included in workshop CD-ROM to be handed to the attendees. After the workshop, a hardcopy proceedings will be published by ACM or Springer LNCS. A small number of authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers to a special issue of Scientific Programming (IOS Press). Important Dates: 1-page abstract submission deadline March 31, 2008 First stage author notification April 10, 2008 Paper submission deadline May 7. 2008 Final stage author notification (tentative) May 21. 2008 Camera-ready version deadline May 28, 2008 Final camera ready for the post-proceedings July 31, 2008 Organization: General Chair Kazuki Joe, Nara Women\'s U, Japan Program Chair Koji Koyamada, Kyoto U, Japan Publication Chair Issei Fujishiro, Tohoku U, Japan Web Chair Takayuki Itoh, Ochanomizu U, Japan PC members: Takayuki Aoki, Tokyo Institute of Techology, Japan Kadi Bouatouch, U de Rennes, France Hans-Christian Hege, Zuse Institute Berlin, Germany Akio Doi, Iwate Prefectural U, Japan David Ellsworth, NASA Ames, USA Takayuki Itoh, Ochanomizu U, Japan Kazufumi Kaneda, Hiroshima U, Japan Kiyoshi Kiyokawa, Osaka U, Japan Hiroaki Kobayashi, Tohoku U, Japan Wilfrid Lefer, U of Pau, France Kwan-Liu Ma, U of California at Davis, USA Xiaoyang Mao U of Yamanashi, Japan Hideo Miyachi, Kubota Graphics Technology Inc., Japan Patrick McCormick, Los Alamos National Lab., USA Kenneth Moreland, Sandia National Lab, USA Shinichiro Mori, Fukui U, Japan Kazunori Nozaki, Osaka U, Japan Kenji Ono, RIKEN, Japan Tom Peterka, Argonne National Lab., USA Takafumi Saito, Tokyo U of Agriculture and Technology, Japan Mariko Sasakura, Okayama U, Japan Han-Wei Shen, Ohio State U., USA Shigeo Takahashi, U of Tokyo, Japan Supporting Organizations: + SGI Japan Ltd. + Kubota Graphics Technologies Inc.
