CFP: Visual Data Mining Symposium at Information Visualisation IV05 conf. in London ******************************************************* International Symposium of Visual Data Mining, IV05-VDM ****** www.graphicslink.demon.co.uk/IV05/ ****** at the 9th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION VISUALISATION IV05 ******************************************************* 5 – 6 – 7 July 2005 University of Greenwich LONDON ENGLAND ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers and Participation Visual data mining research seeks to enhance the knowledge discovery process through the use of graphical representations of data mining results and processes and through the combination of visual and computational approaches to data exploration. By leveraging human perceptions of the visual space, patterns that might not otherwise be discovered will be identified through the use of visual data mining techniques. Visual data mining utilizes concepts from a wide variety of disciplines, including: computer graphics, information visualization, knowledge discovery, cognition and visual perception. Papers on all aspects of visual data mining are solicited. Papers will be refereed and appear in the conference proceedings, which will be published by IEEE Computer Society. A selection of the best papers will be recommended for publication in special issues of scientific journals, or as an edited book. TOPICS OF INTEREST: - Data mining algorithm visualization - Combining visual and computational methods of data exploration - Scalability issues - Visual querying - Temporal visual data mining - Spatial visual data mining - Empirical studies of performance - Collaborative visualization and mining - Evaluation of visual data mining methods - Reviews and surveys of related literature - Applications of visual data mining - Case studies - Cognitive approaches and explanations for visual data mining - Computational steering for long-running data mining applications Supported by: • Department of Information Systems and Multimedia, University of Greenwich, UK • GraphicsLink… • VGRU,BCIM, South Bank University, UK • National Centre for Computer Animation, Bournemouth University, UK • Department of Visual Art, University of Northern Colorado, USA • HCI Graduate Program, Indiana University School of Informatics, IUPUI, USA • School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University, USA • Information and Computer Science Department, KFUPM, SA • College of Information Science and Technology, Drexel University, USA • University of Kent at Canterbury, UK Co-operated by: Information Visualisation Society ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important Dates: 1 March 2005 – Submission of papers 30 April 2005 – Submission of camera-ready & early registration closes ============================================= All VDM enquiries should be addressed to: Anita D’Pour Conference Co-ordinator P.O.
