In such a dynamic landscape, organizations are re-examining the ways they treat their knowledge assets and they are identifying new ways in which they can exploit them more effectively in the future. Therefore, efficient management of knowledge has attracted increasing attention. The I-KNOW conference series serves as an international communication platform on which our attendees can present, discuss, and share scientific results as well as best practices. I-KNOW brings together practitioners and academics to learn from each other and to exchange experiences with one another. I-KNOW covers human-oriented/organizational as well as technology-oriented aspects of knowledge management acknowledging that both are integral parts of successful knowledge management tools and strategies. I-KNOW '05 is the fifth time the international conference on knowledge management is organized by Know-Center. A carefully selected program committee of international experts will ensure that submitted contributions represent results which go beyond state-of-the-art solutions. With about 350 attendees 2004, I-KNOW is the largest scientific conference on knowledge management in Europe. I-KNOW '05 devotes the first conference day to thematic tracks. The aim of these tracks is to support community building and to bring together experts in a focused thematic area for a one day in-depth discourse. On the second and third day of I-KNOW '05, we want to discover and strengthen promising trends in knowledge management. During these days we provide our attendees with a multi-disciplinary overview about next-generation solutions in knowledge management. Accepted papers will be published in proceedings which will appear in cooperation with Springer Publishing Co. Selected papers will also appear in J.UCS (www.jucs.org), an electronic Journal published by Springer in cooperation with the Know-Center.
