Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 18:07:37 +0100 Subject: 12th Eurographics Workshop on Rendering - Call for papers CALL FOR PAPERS 12th Eurographics Workshop on Rendering London, June 25-27, 2001 University College London (UCL) egrw2001@cs.ucl.ac.uk http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/egrw01/ Aims and Scope: Following eleven successful workshops in the last eleven years, the twelfth Eurographics Workshop on Rendering will take place in London, England. It is organised by the Department of Computer Science of University College London (UCL), in association with Eurographics, in the context of the Eurographics Working Group on Rendering Activities. The workshop is well established as a major international forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences in the area of rendering algorithms and techniques. Topics: Submissions are invited in (but not limited to) the following areas: - Local and global illumination and reflection models and methods - Monte Carlo and finite element techniques - Sampling, filtering, and anti-aliasing - Visibility algorithms - Human perception and error measures - Texture models, analysis, and synthesis - Image-based rendering - New rendering hardware and new uses of existing hardware - Rendering on low end graphics platforms - Experimental or practice-and-experience comparative studies of existing methods - Rendering solutions for virtual/augmented reality and interactive systems - Non-photorealistic rendering Research and development driven by real-world applications are encouraged. In order to include application reports and papers with preliminary results or speculative ideas, a short paper category (6 page limit) is available in addition to full papers (12 page limits). The category of submitted papers will be decided based on the reviewing results, but authors may submit papers specifically to the short paper category. As has been the tradition in previous workshops, the presentation format will allow for ample discussion time. The number of participants will be limited to 90. Internationally known speakers will give invited lectures. Important Dates in the Year 2001 are: Wednesday, March 28 Electronic abstract submission deadline Friday, March 30 Electronic paper submission deadline Monday, April 2 Submission deadline for videos Sunday, May 13 Author notification Saturday, June 2 Camera-ready copy deadline June 25 - 27 Workshop Submission Procedure: NOTE: ALL SUBMISSIONS THIS YEAR ARE ELECTRONIC. Authors are requested to submit (via anonymous ftp) a file containing the submitted paper in either PDF (preferable) or PostScript format to ONEof the following ftp sites: Server Name: ftp.mpi-sb.mpg.de Directory: /pub/incoming/egwr2001/ or email to: egrw01@eecs.harvard.edu using the following file naming convention: FirstAuthorLastname_FirstInitialMiddleInitial_FileNumber.filetype For example, the second file submitted by John Peter Smith should be named as: smith_jp_2.pdf Set options to embed all non-standard fonts in your submission file, whether submitting PostScript or PDF, and set image resolution to 144 dpi in the PDF converter. If you are using a non-Adobe tool for creating your PDF, please submit PostScript, also. Authors experiencing problems with electronic submission of contributions should contact the program co-chairs. An electronic cover sheet should also be e-mailed to BOTH co-chairs, containing the names and institutions of all authors, contact information of one contact author (name, e-mail, postal address, phone and fax numbers), and the (not necessarily final) title and abstract of the submission, by midnight (CEST) of Wednesday, March 28, two days before the paper submission deadline. Courier-service mail will be used only for those submissions that the co-chair find unusable, and for videos accompanying papers. In the latter case, one paper copy of the paper should be sent along with five copies of the accompanying videotape or CD-ROM to one of the two program co-chairs. In the case of videotapes an effort should be made to include the segment in both PAL and NTSC on the same VHS tape, to ensure that it can be seen by all reviewers. An authors toolkit including LaTeX and MS Word style files is available from the conference Web page. Submissions missing the deadline will be considered with reduced priority, to the extent practical within the short review cycle. Organizing Co-chairs: Yiorgos L.
