It will be located at the venerable Park Plaza Hotel in downtown Boston, close to the theater district, the Boston Public Garden, and plenty of restaurants. Conference submission categories include workshops, tutorials, papers, posters, panels, case studies, demos, and exhibitions. We invite you to take part in IEEE Visualization 2002 by submitting your original research and joining us in Boston. Capstone speaker on Friday, November 1st, 2002: Ray Kurzweil. Posters will be displayed in a special one hour session before as well as during the three hours conference reception on Wednesday. This casual setting will allow the presenters to have one-on-one dialogue with attendees and also to control the pace and level of the presentations. Poster submissions should focus on work that has produced new or exciting ideas or findings. Case studies in all areas of science, engineering, and medicine are also welcome. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the field. Review criteria include contribution of the work to the visualization community, validity of the results, originality of the work, and clarity of presentation. To submit a poster proposal, prepare a two-page extended abstract in ASCII text or PDF and email it to Kwan-Liu Ma (ma@cs.ucdavis.edu). The authors are also encouraged to submit a preliminary PDF or Powerpoint version of the poster. Complete contact information must be provided with the submission. A one-page abstract of each accepted poster, along with supporting materials, will be included in the conference DVD. For more information contact Kwan-Liu Ma (ma@cs.ucdavis.edu). NEW: Interactive Demonstrations Lab (Deadline: June 28, 2002) The Interactive Demonstrations Lab is designed to let conference attendees interact with presenters and each other on an individual basis. We strongly encourage the conference paper and poster presenters, as well as contributors of ongoing work which is not in the conference technical sessions to participate in the Interactive Demonstrations Lab. The demo room will have a variety of workstations on which contributors and attendees can install their materials and visualization systems for attendees' experimentation and enjoyment. The demo room will be open throughout the whole week, Sunday to Friday. This is a unique opportunity for conference attendees to interface directly with conference contributors. Please come visit the Interactive Demonstrations Lab while you are at Vis2002! To participate in the Interactive Demonstrations Lab, please send your demo proposals via email to hwshen@cis.ohio-state.edu no later than June 28, 2002. The proposal should include names and affiliations of the presenters, one page abstract briefly describing your work, and the equipment requirements. For more information contact Renato Pajarola (pajarola@acm.org) or Han-Wei Shen (hwshen@cis.ohio-state.edu). InfoVis 2002 Interactive Posters (due July 1, 2002) The interactive poster category includes both traditional posters and demonstrations of interactive systems, either live on a laptop or through video. We encourage both submissions of original unpublished work and submissions showcasing systems of interest to the information visualization community that have been presented in other venues. Interactive poster authors must submit a 2 page extended abstract, and those who intend to show demos are highly encouraged to also submit an accompanying video. Please refer to the main InfoVis CFP at http://www.infovis.org/infovis2002/ for further submission details. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Note that this email list is used for the conference-calls for the IEEE Visualization conference, and the VolVis and InfoVis symposia.
