Created in 1990, the workshop has successfully attracted specialists in this growing field. This year, the workshop will especially cover the modelling and animation of complex phenomena. This includes the modelling of virtual creatures - from their body-parts to the control of their behavior, and the animation of natural phenomena such as water, smoke, clouds, vegetation, etc. The models and the animation techniques may have been designed either in the context of enhanced visual realism or for real-time applications such as Virtual Reality or games. Authors are invited to submit original papers reporting research contributions, practice and experience, or novel applications in these or related areas. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Animation Algorithms and Techniques Animation Systems Interactive and Real-time Animation Levels of Detail in Animation Character Animation Virtual Creatures and Virtual Humans Facial Animation Physically-based Modelling Visual Simulation Natural Phenomena Animation in Special Effects and Games Animation for Virtual Worlds and VR Animation in Visualization and Science Submission Procedure (all submissions are electronic) -------------------- Authors are requested to submit papers no longer than 10 pages. - Papers should be uploaded in PDF format, by anonymous ftp to: ftp.inrialpes.fr/incoming/CAS01/ - An email, including the title, the authors, the abstract of the paper and the name of the up-loaded file should be be sent to: Marie-Paule.Cani@imag.fr Authors are invited to give in the paper the reference of a web-site where their animation results are shown, rather than sending video-tapes. Selection will be based upon technical and scientific content and relevance to the workshop. All accepted papers will be published in a Springer-Verlag book. Workshop Format --------------- The workshop will take place just before the Eurographics '2001 Conference, at the same location. As such, it will provide an important opportunity to researchers planning to attend/present at either event, to spend more time exploring topics of common interest. The workshop will be held in two days, with paper presentation and discussion sessions. The final EG workshop approval is pending. Detailed information about Manchester, travelling and accommodation can be found at the Eurographics'2001 Web page: http://www.eg.org/eg2001/.
