From: "Ivan Herman" To: Subject: CFP: Eurographics/SIGGRAPH strategic initiative Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2000 08:55:52 +0100 ********************************** *** Call for Participation *** ********************************** Campfires: Synergies for the Future ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This new strategic initiative from ACM SIGGRAPH and Eurographics aims to bring together leading researchers and developers from a variety of disciplines to exchange state-of-the-art information and explore future directions for the application of computer graphics. The first of these Campfires will be a focussed workshop entitled: * Interpreting the Past: Bringing together archaeologists and computer scientists to discuss how virtual archaeological site reconstructions can assist/hinder archaeologists in interpreting the past. The Campfire will be held from Saturday 20 May - Tuesday 23 May 2000 and include invited short presented papers, panel discussions addressing fundamental questions, and demonstrations. Participation is limited to ONLY 50 participants with places being available on a "first-come-first-served" basis. Outcomes ~~~~~~~~ An essential part of these events is the distribution of their outcomes to the wider community. Dissemination of information will be in the form of publication of the papers, an extended report on the event and posting of the key outcomes on the Campfires web pages. Details ~~~~~~~ The venue for the Campfire is Snowbird, just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. Costs (per person) cover full board (ie all meals and accommodation) plus transport to and from the airport.
