--- C A L L F O R P A P E R S --- 5th International Conference on Computer Vision Systems (ICVS2007) Special Theme: Vision Systems in the Real World Deadline for Paper Submission: November 15th, 2006 21st-24th March 2007, Bielefeld, Germany http://www.icvs2007.org ICVS2007 is supported / endorsed by the IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition) and the GI (German Informatics Society) - Computer Vision Section. A PDF version of the Call for Papers is available for download on the conference website at: http://www.icvs2007.org/downloads/icvs2007-cfp.pdf -- News -- * Keynotes will be held by Prof. James Crowley and Prof. John Tsotsos. * An invited talk will be given by Dr. Heiko Wersing, Honda Research Institute Europe, on visual learning in the context of the ASIMO humanoid robot. * An IAPR Best Paper Prize will be awarded to the most outstanding conference contribution. * ICVS07 supports open-access publication. -- About The Conference -- The 5th International Conference on Computer Vision Systems aims to gather researchers and developers from academic fields and industries worldwide to share their research results covering all aspects of intelligent vision systems. The programme committee cordially invites you to attend ICVS 2007 and submit papers on all aspects of intelligent vision systems including, but not limited to: * Computer vision from a system perspective: applications, architecture, integration and control * Cognitive vision techniques for scene analysis, semantic interpretation, and learning * Methods and metrics for performance evaluation A major theme will be vision systems that interact with or respond to their environment in a dynamic and adaptive manner, with an emphasis put on integrated systems that are robust enough to be deployed in largely unconstrained environments. Papers will be reviewed double-blinded by an international programme committee according to the following criteria: * Pertinence: Does the paper describe methods or theories concerning the theme of the conference? * Scientific quality: Does the paper clearly identify a scientific problem, document the state of the art and demonstrate an original technique or method that resolves the problem? * Impact: Is the method/model likely to be adopted for the design or evaluation of computer vision systems? * Generality: Can the method/model be used for a variety of problems? Is it non-specific? * Innovation: Does the method/model demonstrate an improvement in the current state of the art? We also encourage young researchers to present vision systems and evaluation results. The conference programme will include invited talks as well as oral and poster presentations of selected papers. It will be enriched by official workshops and rather informal BoF sessions to allow practitioners and scientists to discuss focussed topics in an atmosphere that fosters the exchange of ideas. The best conference paper will be awarded an IAPR best paper prize. According to the idea of Open Access, the proceedings will be published and indexed in Bielefeld University\'s Institutional Repository in co-operation with Bielefeld University Library and Google Scholar. Besides the scientific goals of the conference, the organisers strive to provide an accessible meeting by keeping expenses for participants affordable, particularly for young researchers. -- Programme Committee -- * Christian Bauckhage, T-Labs, Berlin, Germany * Bir Bhanu, University of California, Riverside, USA * Horst Bischof, TU Graz, Austria * Alain Boucher, IFI Hanoi, Vietnam * Francois Bremond, INRIA, France * Andrea Cavallaro, Queen Mary University of London, UK * Henrik Christensen, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA * Julia Chung, NCKU, Taiwan * Regis Clouard, University of Caen, France * Antony Cohn, University of Leeds, UK * Patrick Courtney, Perkin Elmer Life Science, UK * James L. General editor: K.D. Baker, guest editors: M. Thonnat et al. Please watch our website or the RSS feed for updates. -- Workshops -- The ICVS2007 conference committee cordially invites members from all areas of the computer vision systems community to submit proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the main conference. Workshops should facilitate a lively discussion about emerging topics or specific aspects of broader topics in the area of computer vision systems. If you have any questions regarding workshop topics or organisation, please feel free to contact the workshop chair, Bärbel Mertsching, via email at workshops@icvs2007.org or have a look at the conference website for further information. -- Exhibitions -- There will be the opportunity to present vision systems next to the conference hall. Interested industries and laboratories please contact Christian Wöhler (exhibition@icvs2007.org). -- Instructions for Authors -- Prior to the submission deadline, connect to the conference web server to enter the title, author names and addresses, abstract and keyword. The paper will then be assigned a paper identification number. Full papers must be submitted electronically in Springer LNCS style for review in the conference format.
